Port-style dessert wine
Stylistically in the middle ground between Ruby and Tawny port, this iteration of our port-style dessert wine, Thatch, shows of lavish aromas of raspberry coulis, cinnamon stick, and caramel that are initially reticent but gain intensity with aeration. On the palate, the wine’s protracted barrel-aging becomes more evident, with none of the thickness or unctuousness many associate with New World port-style. The wine is sleek and refined, its tannins buffed to a high polish and the brandy and residual sugar perfectly integrated into the wines overall structure. Serve lightly chilled with chocolate, cigars, or a cold night in front of a warm fire.
