Heather is the former Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Ruggles Service Corporation, a multi-association management company in Richmond, VA, established in 1974 by her father who passed away in 2006. She was employed at Ruggles from 1999 to 2015 owned the company with her brother since 2002. A dance major at Hollins College, she lived in the Richmond area since she was 8 and has roots that run deep in Virginia. In April 2016 she moved with her husband, Bruce to Gainesville, Florida where he took a job at the University of Florida. Heather and Bruce’s interest in taking on this venture, owning a Virginia winery, have not subsided with the move. They have enthusiastically embraced this opportunity as Heather continues to manage, remotely, the daily operations of First Colony and returns frequently to enjoy the “fruits” of their collective labor.
