Meet Terre Sisson

It all started when…

Terre Sisson has been bringing people together to explore cooking and wine pairing since the founding of Charlottesville Wine & Culinary in 2003.  Over the past 15 years the focus has been helping her students develop the skills and confidence to produce classic and creative dishes through teaching hundreds of classes.

Classes have been conducted in select Winery Kitchens, at Gourmet Food Purveyors, in Private Homes and in her own Home Kitchen. Terre has also delighted corporate team-building participation classes of six to fifty plus participants, as well as health-focused classes for corporate health fairs. Her fun and relaxed teaching style highlights fine home cooking, ingredient seasonality, and the joyful nature of expressing oneself through food and drink.

Terre received formal training from L’Academie de Cuisine in Bethesda, Maryland and Hugh Carpenter’s Camp Napa Culinary in Napa Valley California.  She continues to learn and hone her own skills as new information, techniques, and tools become available by devouring food writings, and constant experimentation.  Her heart and soul thrive in epicurean immersion.

We at First Colony Winery are thrilled to partner with Terre for over ten years. We host Terre's cooking classes monthly and pair our wines with the unique menus created for each class. Attendees also receive a 20 percent discount on wine purchases during these classes. We have also hosted hands-on business retreats and networking events led by Terre. Cooking Class with Terre Sisson - Summer Supper

We'll chop chicken and herbs to create patties that will be served open-face with arugula and Swiss. Our salad is definitely a main course feature topped with red chili grilled shrimp skewers. The peach tart is based upon a recipe from The Grove Park Inn in Ashville.

This salad of mini pattypans, green beans & corn is a late Summer charmer. You'll love the nicely seasoned grilled beef that will be delicious alongside potato salad. A simple cherry clafouti topped with amaretto cream and almonds is ethereal.
